Since the day when Octopus tentacular graphic was born in 2006, its image has multiplied and transformed hundreds of times while remaining persistent and recognizable. Internationally known, locally respected on the streets of Italy.
Octopus FW24 Collection remasters the tentacular graphic which comes in the classic version that has now become a classic, but also in deconstructed, hybridized and decontextualized takes. The tentacles are transformed, all the way to becoming a camouflage pattern, which is applied to garments by printing or with advanced jacquard techniques – even on polar fleece, and denim.
The Octopus FW24 collection also marks the partnership between Octopus and three guest designers who have worked on three special series of garments – Giorgio di Salvo, Daniele Vanzo, and Aloha Project.
Giorgio di Salvo is the creator of the original Octopus graphic, which he updated by surrounding the tentacles with barbed wire, a recurring symbol in his graphic production. Daniele Vanzo is the illustrator who creates dystopian urban images, that lies somewhere between Western underground art and Japanese manga: after several collaborations with Octopus on individual garments, here he applied his style to the idea of an imaginary lookbook for the FW24 season, printed on a series of hoodies, sweatshirts and T-shirts.
Aloha Project is the pseudonym of Giacomo Fumagalli, who designs music videos (for Night Skinny, Guè and Side Baby) and art objects, while also drawing characters inspired by the world of cartoons and American lowbrow aesthetics. Like the women, as statuesque as they are dangerous, whom he has brought together with the tentacles of Octopus.
The first Octopus FW24 official collaboration is with Dungeons & Dragons, the legendary role-playing game created exactly half a century ago by Gary Gigax and Dave Arneson. D&D was an idea that came from a group of friends with a passion for fantasy and wargames, from amateur self-publishing. Octopus celebrates that history – and all the RPG culture made up of druids, barbarians, elves and warriors – with a special series of 12 limited-run items, all featuring custom details and the 20-sided dice (D20) logo.
